4-H Summer of Science: Pet First Aid

July 19, 2022

Have you ever wondered what you should do if a pet is injured or falls suddenly ill? Or what should you do if they have a small cut and wound or need CPR resuscitation? Get a glimpse into veterinary medicine with an introductory pet first aid workshop. In this workshop, you will learn ways to provide care to your pet in the moment. You will also get to explore how these skills relate to the triage process at an animal hospital and what different veterinary staff roles do in emergency cases as well as regular care. If you are considering a career in the animal sciences, this workshop will provide hands-on learning (without any actually injured animals) and a chance to learn more about what happens behind the scenes.

This workshop will take place at the Green Mountain Technical and Career Center in Hyde Park, VT from 10:30 am – 3:00 pm. Space is limited to 10 youth who will be entering grades 7-10 in the Fall.

Instructors:

Hillary Molleur is a Certified Veterinary Technician who has worked at Lamoille Valley Veterinary Services for 6 years. She has 3 dogs, a handful of chickens, and more cats than she'd like to admit. Hillary is certified in Low Stress Handling and enjoys teaching.

Karen Hart is a veterinary practice manager who has been with Lamoille Valley Veterinary Services for 4 years. She lives with 3 red dogs and 3 cats of varying colors. Karen is also Low Stress Handling certified and Pet First Aid certified.

You must register at least one week before the workshop is scheduled to take place so that we can send you the required paperwork, directions, and additional information needed for the session.
